About the Work: Bottle Vase

These bottle vases (as I call them) are about the profile and exterior surface of a vessel.

Most of what I make is focused on the transition between the interior and exterior of a pot - how does one get from the outside to the inside. Sometimes this is through a hole or decoration cut into the wall of a pot, or the soft unfolding of a lip.

The bottle vases, for me, are a place to draw, paint, and re-fire pieces to achieve a result that is a result of the process and not a pre-determined product.
